Settling In

Prior to your child's first day we ask that you return all required enrollment forms.  

We will ensure all the classroom teachers have the chance to review your child's preferences and needs, including any food restrictions and allergies.  

We provide each parent a detailed enrollment package, including the Bumble Bee Garden Child Care Parent Handbook.  

The Parent Handbook  includes the following information: 

• The programs offered and the ages served
• About Child Care in Ontario
• Our Program Statement and guiding principals; 
• Programs and Curriculum
• Arrival and Departure Routines
• Our programs offered and the holidays observed
• Classroom Policies and Etiquette
• Nutrition,  food restrictions, and allergy awareness
• Registration process, waitlist policy and withdrawal notifications
• Tuition fees and payment options
• Communication with Families, Contacts, and Records 
• Staff Qualifications, Training and Development 
• Behaviour Management & a list of prohibited practices
• Hand hygiene and Sanitary Practices 
• Safety and Emergency Preparedness

Prior to the first day, we ask that you provide the completed Registration Package. This allows for any meal accommodations to be made and allows educators to review and get familiar with your child’s needs. 

There are also some items that are required. In your enrollment package, we will provide you with a complete list of everything that you will need to bring. 

Separation is normal stage of development. Every child (and parent) may experience it differently. Our team of Early Childhood Educators are trained and prepared to help your child. They will reassure and comfort your child, help to distract him/her with activities and work hard to make your child feel secure and happy in their new learning environment. Staff will incorporate different activities each day that the child enjoys at home and that provide familiarity. 

It is recommended that a child becomes acquainted with the child care centre and their new room gradually to support a smooth and positive transition for your child. We start off with a short visit, then during the course of the child's first week in care the child stays a little longer each day. This process helps to make the transition into child care a more positive experience for both parent and child. We will work with you to develop a transition plan that works for both you and your child. The transition will start on the first day your child is registered. 

Remember that this is a stage that will pass and soon your child will be excited about come to play with their new friends.
